Basketball stats app for leagues and teams

BucketStats turns every game into official stats: live play-by-play scoring, box scores, season leaders and shot charts, published on a league website that updates while the game is played.

What the stats app tracks

Live play-by-play

Every shot, rebound and substitution is recorded as it happens, and fans can follow the running score on the game page.

Official box scores

A box score for every game with minutes, points, shooting splits, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, turnovers and fouls.

Season leaders

Leaderboards for scoring, rebounds, assists and more, with a minimum-games rule so one hot night does not top the season.

Shot charts

League Pro leagues can record where each shot was taken and show a chart by team and by game.

Team workspaces

Each team reviews its own stats after every game and exports its roster, games and player stats on Team Pro.

Standings from the same record

The standings, schedule and stats all come from one record, so they never disagree.

How a game becomes official stats

  1. 1A scorekeeper records the gameEach play is entered live. Only one person scores a game at a time, so two people can never record the same play twice.
  2. 2The numbers appear on the pageThe running score, play-by-play and box score update on the public game page as the game is played.
  3. 3The league approves the resultThe organizer approves the final score. Season stats, leaders and standings are calculated from approved games.
  4. 4Corrections need agreementIf a result is wrong, the organizer proposes a correction and the affected teams must confirm it before it applies.

Frequently asked questions

What is a basketball stats app?

A basketball stats app records what happens in a game, such as shots, rebounds and assists, and turns it into box scores, player averages and season leaderboards.

How does BucketStats record stats?

A scorekeeper records each play live on a phone. The box score, running score and play-by-play update as the game is played, and the season stats are added up from approved games.

Which stats does it track?

Points, field goals, three-pointers, free throws, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, turnovers and fouls, plus minutes and plus-minus when substitutions are recorded. League Pro leagues can also record where each shot was taken for shot charts.

Is the stats app free?

League organizers pay nothing. Each team subscribes for its own workspace from $29 a month. Team Pro adds CSV exports, and advanced stats and AI game reports are coming soon.

Is there an iPhone app?

Not yet. The scoring screen works in a mobile browser today, and an App Store app is coming soon.

Are the numbers official?

Yes. Results are approved by the league, and a correction to an approved result needs the affected teams to agree, so a team page shows the same numbers as the league's record.
