What is Offensive rating?
Offensive rating is the number of points a team scores per 100 possessions. It measures scoring efficiency without being distorted by pace.
Formula
Offensive rating = 100 × points scored ÷ possessions
Example
A team that scores 68 points on 64 possessions has an offensive rating of 100 × 68 ÷ 64 = 106.3.
Why it matters in a league
It lets a league compare a slow, careful team with a fast one fairly.
