What is Point differential?
Point differential is the total points a team has scored minus the total points it has allowed over a period. It is often used as a tie-breaker.
Formula
Point differential = points for − points against
Example
A team that has scored 412 points and allowed 380 has a point differential of +32.
Why it matters in a league
Many leagues break ties in the standings by head-to-head record first and then by point differential.
