What is Assist-to-turnover ratio?

Assist-to-turnover ratio compares how many baskets a player sets up with how often they lose the ball. Higher is better.

Formula

AST/TO = assists ÷ turnovers

Example

A guard with 6 assists and 2 turnovers has a ratio of 6 ÷ 2 = 3.0.

Why it matters in a league

It separates ball handlers who create more than they waste. A ratio of 2.0 or more over a season is generally considered solid.
